A List of The Different Types of Piercings

There are many different types of piercings, and they are generally categorized either by the general area of the body they are located, or the way in which they are pierced.  Below is a list of piercings that should cover just about all types of piercings that are out there.  Of course, as soon as I’m done with the list, somebody will go and create a new kind of piercing.  Luckily I keep a close eye on the industry, so I’ll keep updating this list as new piercing types are created.  Each section will also be linked to a page with better pictures and deeper descriptions of the kinds of body piercings.  Please bear with me while I make all of the individual pages for the piercings – it’s a lot of work.  If you would like to, you can help by posting an entry, or sending piercing pics that I can use on this site.

Types of Ear Piercings

Daith piercing isn’t an ear piercing specifically; it’s any piercing of the cartilage which does include all ear piercings, as well nose piercings, et al.

There’s just one that I noticed you didn’t have on here… There’s a sideburn piercing..
I think that’s what it’s called, but they clamp your sideburn and put in a long curved barbell. Just saying 🙂

Are you talking about lip frenulums? We have a few frenulums on our bodies, so I’m just trying to get clarification here.

About 10 years ago I met a girl who had the “webbing” that connect the front upper lip to the gum with the daintiest little hoop with a tiny diamond chip that hung just at the tip of the gums between her two front teeth. All I kept noticing was something twinkle now and then when she smiled big. I had to stand about a foot away from her before I noticed the thin, tiny silver hoop. I’ve never seen that before or since. Is that a typical piercing? And would such a small gauge be appropriate or just grow out??

The piercing you are talking abound called a smiley, I have this piercing and the gage for this particular piercing is 16. It wouldnt grow out, but since the “webbing” or skin in which its pierced threw is very thin, it could easily be ripped out. But the great thing about this piercing is how easily it can be hidden. Instead of using a hoop, you could use a simple eye brow ring, this way the piercing isn’t visible unsless you lift your lip. Perfect for the work place of piercings are a problem.

i have no clue what its called but i dated a guy who hat a lip pricing kinda like the lebret but it was at the tip of his lip not under the lip

I read a few of the comments, in response to the piercing in the webbing under the upper lip, it’s called a smiley, I have mine done and I absolutely adore it. You can also get the webbing under your lower lip, named frowney like mentioned above. There’s also the webbing under you tongue. This is called a web piercing. I also have this and also really like it :). I noticed that one wasn’t mentioned…. There’s many surface piercings you can get, including bridge, hips (I have both of mine done), eye brow and anti eye brow are also surface piercings. I didn’t notice the anti eye brow mentioned. There’s so many piercings out there. There’s no way you coul have mentioned them all, but being a person with quite a few piercings of my own, I did in fact notice a lot that weren’t mentioned.
